ADHD

Maybe you’ve noticed that your child has difficulty sitting still, or is very restless. Your child can’t pay attention to the task, teachers complains about the unfinished work and/or your child being a daydreamer. Your child mentions ‘chaos in the head’. Important things are forgotten, and those everyday routine tasks never seem to stick. It might be that your child has one of the types of AD(H)D.

ADHD is short for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. It consists of three different components: difficulty with focussing on a task (inattentiveness), impulsivity (do before you think) and hyperactivity (fidgety and restless behavior). Your child does not have to suffer from all three components to have AD(H)D.

Psychodiagnostic examination can be used to determine whether or not ADHD is present in the child. Besides a few tests with the child itself, we will ask parents and teachers to fill out some questionnaires. Sometimes an observation at school is deemed necessary. The parent(s)/guardian(s) of the child will receive the final diagnostic report after the examination.

Some children have already been diagnosed with ADHD in the past, but find it difficult to handle their ADHD here and now in the present. For those children, we offer a variety of specialized treatments. Together we will decide which treatment is best for your child, depending on the situation and the wishes.

Braingame Brian is one of the treatments we offer. This is a game that is largely practiced at home. Click here for more information.
